Wholeheartedly European. We strongly believe in the necessity of Europe’s technological sovereignty. This is why we spent six years to build our fully proprietary technology — deepAI — which is now the core of deeptrust.

The story of deep spans over four decades, always driven by one idea: using technology to solve complex, meaningful problems.

1984 — Mephisto. deep co-founder Thomas Nitsche delves into AI and develops one of the first chess computers — Mephisto — and wins the computer chess world championship.

1997 — Patents. Thomas continues his AI journey and invents and patents the intelligent switch and the learning thermostat (see NEST by Google). deep co-founder Thomas Nitsche delves into AI and develops one of the first chess computers — Mephisto — and wins the computer chess world championship.

2000 — Proximic. Thomas develops a large-scale search technology (Infominer), which goes on to power Allianz Group’s corporate search engine in 2003. In 2006, Proximic is founded on top of Infominer and acquired by Comscore in 2015.

2009 — MATH 42. deep co-founders Maxim and Raphael Nitsche have the idea for MATH 42: A math learning app that enables students to solve their problems step by step — based on a new didactic AI system.

2013 — Millions of students. MATH 42 launches and becomes the world’s first true step-by-step math solver. The app eventually helps over 5 million students across the world – from Germany and France to the US, China, and Mexico.

2019 — deep®. Seeing by the political developments of the past years (Brexit, Trump 1, Marine LePen) co-founders Antonia Düker, Thomas, Maxim, and Raphael Nitsche come together to start deep. Their goal is to create deepAI — a new technology capable of structuring the world of information in real-time to leverage it for good.
